Today I want to share a couple of my favorite things. One is finding a treasure in someone else's trash.....yes I dumpster dive. I admit it. People throw things out that can be turned into fabulous treasures and I just can't let that happen! It is a goal of mine to save all worthwhile treasures from the landfill!
Another of my favorite things is actually a "who" not a "thing". Her name is Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman. She has an awesome blog that I follow religiously and I absolutely love her cookbooks! When I heard that she was going to be in Wichita for a book signing I knew I simply had to go! My dear friend Donna and I set out last Thursday for the big event. It was AWESOME! I was so excited to meet her! Other than a slight unintentional detour on the way home we had a super trip! It was a great week! Excellent trash finds and The Pioneer Woman.....perfect!
First my trash treasure. It was a little rough I admit, but it had so much potential! I repaired the drawers, put on a new top(a cabinet door from the Habitat store), added some bead board to the bottom, painted, distressed, and waxed it.
Not too bad :) I think it turned out fabulous! It is at Antiques On The Prairie in Baldwin just waiting for someone to take it home.
And here I am with Ree. She is so sweet. I also forgot to say that she has a cooking show on Food Network on Saturday mornings that I love! Her website is http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ If you haven't ever checked her out, you simply MUST. Those are just a couple of things that I dearly love :) See you soon!

Spring Has Sprung!
It has been absolutely gorgeous outside lately! That would explain my lack of posts :) When the weather is warm and the sun is shining I am in the garage working, working, working! I want to share a bench that I recently finished that would be soooo perfect for a porch, patio, sun room, heck even inside would work. It started out life as a headboard that I picked up at the Goodwill store.
Cute on its own, but I had greater plans for her! I was also the recipient of a section of deck railing that my sister rescued from her neighbor's trash. This was to become the decking of the bench seat. I added a couple of table legs from a damaged table that I got for a steal, and some oak scalloped edging from my neighbor's garbage. Wow! That sounds like a hot mess as I describe the components. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised!
I added an all-weather cushion and upholstery so she is good to be inside or out :) Coordinating pillows tie it all together. Sigh, I love her! Fabulous!
She is waiting at Market Antiques in Ottawa for someone to take her home and love her :) I have also taken some other cute outdoor goodies for your viewing pleasure. Go check them out!
See you soon- Christy
