Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Today was the 4th consecutive day of rain here in Kansas and I have to say that I am DONE with the rain!!! It is keeping me from doing all the fun projects that I want to be doing!! We did have a brief amount of sunshine today and I made the most of it. Bring on the vitamin D! I want to share a redo of a desk that I picked up at a garge sale last week. It was just your everyday, run-of-the-mill, lesser quality wooden desk, but it had a great shape to it and I wanted to make it beautiful.
I love the sidewalk chalk artwork underneath it :)

After some sanding, painting, distressing, and waxing it was quite a primitive beauty! I took her to the Ottawa booth(Market Antiques) if you are interested!
Lovely!
Since it is Spring and I am ready to start planting flowers I decided to make a planter from a cute little chair that had lost its woven seat. The lumber I used was old fencing that I rummaged in my neighbors trash for :) It turned out Fabulous!!
Can't you just see it full of trailing flowers and vines?!

I am going to hope for more sunshine and more time to get out to the garage and get some things finished!  See you soon!

Getting Back On Track!

Ok, I am ready to get things back on track here in blog world. I have lots of pictures to share with you! Last week I got a call from Stan at Antiques On The Prairie and he told me he had a couple of items coming in that I might be interested in. I was excited to see what he had so as soon as they arrived I rushed right up to see them. There was an oak chifferobe and an oak dresser. I am always game for a challenge so when I pulled up and saw that they were literally in pieces I was still very interested. I just needed to get them for a good price! When I went in Stan asked if I had seen the "lumber" out front. Ha! They were absolutely in rough shape, but I knew I could fix them. He gave me an awesome price and I loaded them right up! I was so excited to get to work that I completely forgot to snap pictures of them in their less than perfect condition. Here are the "before" pictures AFTER I had put them back together!
The drawers and upper cabinet door are not pictured because they were being glued and clamped!

Both pieces lost an inch or so in height when I had to cut the rot off the bottom of the legs. Someone did not have a dry basement!
I glued, clamped, sanded, and painted them back to life!! I love them. They make me happy. I hope I can part with them!
Here is the chifferobe with some beautiful mustard paint and red and white porcelain pulls, but the upper door was still not on.
Here it is complete, but the color is definitely better in the last picture. It is a much richer mustard!

Here is the finished dresser! It is done in Old White ASCP with Celtic Grey on the drawers.
The original hardware worked perfectly!
So there is a taste of what has been going on around here this week! I will be better about posting from now on I promise!! See you soon!

What I've Been Up To..........

I can't seem to get to posting as regularly as I would like, but I do have some cute things to share with you today! I guess spending my time working on projects right now comes first :(  First I want to give you the finished results of the entryway organizer I have been working on. I found this guy at the Habitat Restore and knew he had great things in his future!

I knocked out the particle board pieces on the back and put in a new shelf, wood to attach coat hooks to, and bead board on the back.

Then came a beautiful coat of Colonial Red paint, distressing, stain to age it a bit, and finally a nice soft coat of paste wax.

So darn cute! My son's things fit so perfectly I want to keep it, but alas it will be off to the booth soon. Hope you have a great rest of your weekend! See you soon!

Oh yeah I wanted to give you some updated booth pics before I go!

What Have I Done?

That is exactly what I was asking myself Saturday afternoon! Sometimes good things can be extremely stressful. When I got the phone call Saturday afternoon that several things in my Ottawa booth had sold and it was looking pretty bare I panicked. I used up all my extra pieces to put in that booth two days before. I knew what I had to do. Go to Antiques on The Prairie and take some items out and replenish my stock at Market Antiques. Guess what I did all day Sunday and Monday? Yep, I worked on projects to fill my A.T.O.P. back up. Whew!!!! I have been so tired and my body aches, but trust me when I say "I am not complaining!". I want people to fall in love with and buy my stuff! I just need more hours in the day :)
I scored some great little tables at Goodwill today that I am very excited about. I found some great items at the Habitat Restore on Friday. One of them was the ugly twin sister to a little chair I did last month. Can't wait to show you that one finished! This is another great piece I found that I plan on turning into an entryway/mudroom organizer.

I know it is a little rough right now, but trust me! It will be fabulous!  Here are the most updated pictures of my booth at Market Antiques :)

Well off to bed so I can hit the ground running tomorrow! See you soon!
