Ok, I am ready to get things back on track here in blog world. I have lots of pictures to share with you! Last week I got a call from Stan at Antiques On The Prairie and he told me he had a couple of items coming in that I might be interested in. I was excited to see what he had so as soon as they arrived I rushed right up to see them. There was an oak chifferobe and an oak dresser. I am always game for a challenge so when I pulled up and saw that they were literally in pieces I was still very interested. I just needed to get them for a good price! When I went in Stan asked if I had seen the "lumber" out front. Ha! They were absolutely in rough shape, but I knew I could fix them. He gave me an awesome price and I loaded them right up! I was so excited to get to work that I completely forgot to snap pictures of them in their less than perfect condition. Here are the "before" pictures AFTER I had put them back together!

The drawers and upper cabinet door are not pictured because they were being glued and clamped! |
Both pieces lost an inch or so in height when I had to cut the rot off the bottom of the legs. Someone did not have a dry basement!
I glued, clamped, sanded, and painted them back to life!! I love them. They make me happy. I hope I can part with them!
Here is the chifferobe with some beautiful mustard paint and red and white porcelain pulls, but the upper door was still not on. |
Here it is complete, but the color is definitely better in the last picture. It is a much richer mustard!
Here is the finished dresser! It is done in Old White ASCP with Celtic Grey on the drawers.
The original hardware worked perfectly!

So there is a taste of what has been going on around here this week! I will be better about posting from now on I promise!! See you soon!
