Keeping My Head Above Water

Some days it feels like I am barely able to get all the things done that a wife, daycare provider, and mom of three busy kiddos, and four furry kids needs to get done. Throw in trying to keep two booth spaces full, a husband who travels a large portion of the time, mowing and gardening season, and some days all I am able to do is keep my head above water. Is my situation unique? Nope. All my girlfriends are feeling the same overwhelming pull of life's demands. Would I change it? Nope. I tend to thrive on a chaotic schedule. It's all I have known for many years. Do I need a vacation? Yep :) I plan on going to North Carolina in July to see my dear friend Sarah. I can't wait. She is a wonderfully talented lady that I used to share a booth space with. I don't know if I would have had the courage to jump into my business without her leading the way. Check out her blog http://www.outcreatingdesigns.com/ . She does some awesome pieces! Thank you Sarah for your inspiration!
I want to share a dresser and a windsor chair with you today. Somehow in the chaos I forgot to take before pictures, but you will have to trust me that both of these pieces were quite rough. The dresser I painted out in a colonial blue color(oops paint from Home Depot). It is a Martha Stewart paint in an eggshell finish. I brushed on two light coats and still left plenty of the wood showing through. The pulls are awesome wrought iron pieces from Hobby Lobby. I love the end result!
The windsor chair received my standard treatment. Paint it black, distress it, and wax it. Love it! This is a Nichols and Stone windsor that I picked up in Wichita when I went with my good friend Donna to see The Pioneer Woman. It needed to be reglued and given some TLC. I was more than happy to oblige!

They both went to Antiques on The Prairie in beautiful downtown Baldwin City! Come on in and check them out! Hope you have an awesome day!  See you soon.  ~Christy
